Glacier Lake Balea is amazing place for rest in Transylvania mountain summer and winter alike. Summer It is come here to see the spectacular serpentine highway Transfagareshan, and it is opened a unique Ice Hotel in the winter season. Сhalet, which located on the water, is open all year. In winter there is skating-rink. Surrounding mountains become resting place for climbers and skiers.

In the cold season, there is no access to Balea Lake from the southern part of the Transfagarasan road which is closed between November and the end of May, every year, as tunnel Capra-Balea is blocked by snow in this season. It is possible to get here from the side of Sibiu.
