The Laxey Wheel remains the largest working waterwheel in the world. Its second name Lady Isabella got after former Lieutenant Governor Hope's wife. The wheel has a diameter of 22 meters.

It was used to pump a water from the from the Glen Mooar part of the Great Laxey Mines industrial complex some 200 yards away and 1500ft below ground.
